4-Head or 5-Head Moulder ?

A 5-head or even a 6-head moulder is more versatile and produces better quality.

Question

I buy 200,000 feet of white pine per year in 4 different profiles.all small sizes (shown as below pic)  I am looking for an entry-level machine for my business and have come across a 4-head planer/moulder. I have heard that 5 heads are required for good results - is this correct?

Answer From contributor J:
A 5 head moulder will give you a better finish than a 4 head planer/moulder. A 4 head planer/moulder can do the profile in your photo, but a 5 head moulder is more versatile. I recommend researching the price difference between the two. If you can afford it, go for the 5 head moulder.

Answer From contributor D:
I agree with J that a moulder is essential for woodworking. Without a straight line rip saw, it's like a car without wheels - it may look and sound nice, but won't go very fast.
